KENYA BIRD WATCHING SAFARIS
This is a journey that runs from mountain moorland, through Rift Valley, Acacia bush, dense Kakamega forest, Lakes, Swamps, Grasslands and National parks. Expect to see over 400 species of birds and great diversity of mammals, insects, spiders, fungi and trees.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Mt. Kenya
Depart from Nairobi for Mt Kenya arriving in time for lunch. Afterwards birding along the nearby forest trails, or wait for wildlife at nearby saltlick. Hope to see olive & bronze napped pigeons, silvery cheeked hornbills, ruppels robin chat, white-starred forest robin, mountain greenbul, stuhlmans sterling and may be Verreaux eagle .Overnight at Mountain lodge/ Mt. Kenya Safari club/similar.
Day 2: Mt. Kenya
An early breakfast, drive to slopes of Mt Kenya through numerous vegetation zones and onto 10,000 ft Afro- alpine moorland. Return on afternoon for bird walk along the river line forests. Hope to see; black duck, hartulabs turaco, crowned hornbill, paradise flycatchers and eight species of sunbirds. Dinner and overnight at Mountain lodge/Similar.
Day 3-4: Mt. Kenya - Sosyambu
Early morning, depart for the Great Rift Valley on to Sosyambu wildlife sanctuary. Outstanding night game drives & nature/bird walks makes it a truly memorable locality. Famous for flamingos, pelicans and water birds but equally rich in narina trogon, arrow-marked babbler and red -headed weaver, hildebrand’s francolin, montane and dusky night jars. One full day visit to Lake Nakuru National Park for games drive, with dinners and overnights at a Lodge / Tented Camp around the Lake.
Day 5-6: Sosyambu – Lake Baringo
After a short drive north, past hot springs of Lake Bogoria and onto L. Baringo. In the afternoon boat excursion to view hippos, crocodiles and water birds at close range. Dark chanting goshawks, silver bird, cliff chats, Jackson's and yellow-billed hornbills, and brown- tailed rock chat, bristle-crowned starling, Verreaux eagle and spotted eagle owl, with dinner and overnight at Lake Baringo Country Club/similar.
Day 7-8: Lake Baringo - Kakamega
Full day drive over Tugen hills, through the Kerio valley and Serikwa plateau and finally to Kakamega forest, a rain forest with its flora and fauna fascinating. Specialties include great blue turaco, emerald cuckoo, blue headed bee eater, black and white casked hornbill, black-billed and violet's black weavers, with dinner and overnight at Kakamega Golf Hotel/Similar.
Day 9-12: Kakamega – Masai Mara
After breakfast, drive past L.Victoria to the Maasai Mara game reserve, East Africa finest wildlife park. All the big five ,black rhino ,elephant ,lion, cheetah, leopard ,zebra, wild beast, heartbeats, topi, eland, thompson and grant gazelles and many more along side Open -billed storks, temminck's courser, yellow-throated sangrouse, usambiro barbet and denham's bustard and many more. Nature walks along side a Maasai guide. Four nights at a permanent Camp/Lodge situated in the Masai Mara.
Day 13: Masai Mara - Nairobi
Early morning games drive and then return to the lodge for breakfast after which you depart for Nairobi, arriving in time for lunch, which will be on your own. Farewell dinner at the famous Carnivore Restaurant and later transfer to the airport to connect your onward flight back home. Read More
