Terms & Conditions


ROLE OF SPEEDBIRD TRAVEL AND SAFARIS
The role of Speedbird is to tailor make tours and itineraries to fit the requirements of our customers. In doing so, we may use independent suppliers for the provision of selected services. Whatever the case, we accept responsibility for the proper performance of your contract with us subject to the following booking conditions.
Booking a Uniglobe Speedbird Safari

  1. Uniglobe Speedbird Travel & Safaris will provide a full quotation without any financial obligation on the agent’s part, prior to a firm booking arrangement. All quotations issued by Uniglobe Speedbird Travel & Safaris will remain valid for a period of twenty five days.
  2. The company recommends that you secure a booking with a non-refundable deposit of at least 10% per person to confirm the safari with the full balance of payment being due to Uniglobe Speedbird Travel & Safaris 45 days prior to departure date. Some safaris (such as Mountain Gorilla itineraries) may require an additional deposit and should this prove the case, you will be advised in good time.
  3. Changes to confirmed reservations made within sixty days of the tour departure date will be charged according to the cancellation penalties outlined below.
  4. d).Upon receipt of final payment the company will issue all relevant travel documents with fully confirmed status. Any changes thereafter are subject to availability and to cancellation fees, which ever is applicable. (See below).
  5. Cancellations
    a) All cancellations must be made in writing to Uniglobe Speedbird Travel & Safaris. Please ensure you receive a written confirmation that your cancellation has been received by us. All cancellations will be charged a cancellation penalty depending on the number of days before tour departure that the cancellation is received.Cancellation penalties & deposits (excluding Gorilla Trekking Permits) Deposit to confirm 50% of the total cost per person
    • Outside 120 days prior to arrival in East Africa - 50% of deposit Final payment would be appreciated at least 60 days prior to arriva
    l• 60 - 45 days prior to arrival in East Africa - 100% of deposit + 40% of balance of tour cost.
    • Less than 30 days prior to arrival in East Africa - 100% of deposit + 100% of balance of tour cost.
    b).Some safaris may incur additional cancellation fees (especially gorilla safaris). There will be no refund for any unused portions of a safari once it has commenced. Cancellation penalties on airfares and gorilla permits are additional and may not be included in the above cancellation charges. Cancellation insurance for the total land tour cost is strongly recommended Gorilla Permits Deposit to confirm - US$ 500 per gorilla permit.
    Cancellation outside 60 days prior trekking - loss of 50% of deposit. Cancellation less than 60 days prior trekking - loss of 100% of deposit.
    c).Some of the camps, hotels and lodges have special cancellation clauses during the year, for example at Christmas and New Year. These will be advised at time of booking. These will in turn form part of these terms and conditions of business.

LIABILITY
(a) Quality
We accept responsibility should the services which we are contractually obliged to provide prove deficient or of not of a reasonable standard including where this is due to acts and defaults of our employees, agents, suppliers and sub contractors.
(b) Insurance
Just as traveling in any other country we encourage all our clients to have international insurance covers for any of their item, illness, injury or death. However we will do our level best to include all domestic insurance covers while on your holiday.
(c) General
Please note our responsibilities and obligations apply only in respect of those services, which we agree to arrange or provide on your behalf. We cannot accept any liability for any services which you arrange on your own.

DELAYS
All outward or homeward points of departure should be read in relation to the services which we have been contracted to provide and not any flight or other travel arrangement which may have been added on.

COMPLAINTS
Should a problem occur, please advice both Speedbird and the supplier of the service in questions immediately as most problem are resolved most easily on the spot. Should you remain dissatisfied, please write to us setting out the complaint in detail within 20 days of the end of our services under the contract. We cannot accept responsibility for any complaints, which are not notified entirely in accordance with this clause.

GENERAL INFORMATION ENTRY AND HEALTH REGULATIONS
Visitors must be in possession of valid visa and health documents on arrival in Kenya and /or Tanzania. Different regulations are applied according to nationality and country of origin and these should be checked with the nearest tourist office or diplomatic mission. Diplomatic mission/Kenya Embassy or inoculation centres in the country of origin will provide information and advice on health regulations and recommendations.

CUSTOMS AND EXIT REGULATIONS
Personal effects, film and camera may be imported temporarily free of duty. However, a customs bond may be required in connection with professional video equipment, tape recorders, radios, musical instruments and souvenirs from other countries, to ensure goods can be re-exported. Firearms need a special permit, which must be obtained in advance. Excess baggage is strictly monitored and charges are very expensive. Customs officials normally inspect baggage on arrival and departure.

SECURITY
Visitors should take the same care as they would normally take in any other destination worldwide. Keep a close watch at your handbags, wallets and cameras when walking in crowded places. Avoid walking at night and place valuables in safe deposit boxes at hotels and lodges.

SPEEDBIRD TRAVEL AND SAFARIS LIMITED
All of our tours in this web site are based on hotel or tented camp accommodation and such require little effort. However, Africa is, for the most part, is a developing region. It is therefore important for you to understand and accept that even the most meticulously planned arrangements can go wrong and that conditions can dictate that there may be moments of discomfort and delay. Clients booking any of the arrangements in our tariff implicitly accept the above and make any such booking subject to the booking conditions and this general information. It is our policy to constantly review the services of the handling agents, hotels, lodges and camps we use, but we cannot be held responsible for the results of delays and alterations other than in those circumstances outlined in the Bookings Conditions.
However we will do our best in all circumstances.
